Blog on the Run: Reloaded

Don’t mind the boxes

Welcome to the new digs.

I’d been thinking about converting to WordPress ever since I first saw it. But Earthlink, my ISP, doesn’t support PHP or MySQL in its personal Web-site servers, so I stayed with Blogger.

But I recently found out that WP has free hosting, just as Blogger does. That, combined with Earthlink’s ridiculously low max capacity of 10 megs for personal Web space, which Blog on the Run was starting to bump up against before I Reloaded it in February, convinced me to move.

My original template didn’t carry over, but I’m not going to worry about that right now. Maybe later.

Neither did comments, although I might be able to go back to Blogger and get them. If not, oh, well.

If you link to me or subscribe to my feed, please update your links, bookmarks and RSS subscriptions. (The link to the new feed is over in the column on the right.) If you think you need to do that but don’t know how, leave a comment with the spam-proof version of your e-mail address and I’ll send you suggestions.

Peace. Out.

  1. Welcome to the new home! Nice gaff. Shame about the comments not coming with you, but at least it gives me the chance to be (one of) the first to leave a note. Onwards!

  2. I think you’re the first, although I’m not 100% certain. I may have some spam lurking in the comments of some of the older posts.

So, how do you like England’s chances?

  3. Huge irony – for the first time since I was 8 years old we have a team capable of winnning the world cup. For the first time since my teens I’m having real difficulty working up the frenzy of lager-soaked delirium required to watch 4 weeks of football & stay sufficiently well-informed about it to be able to have meaningful conversations with strangers in pubs. Semi-finalists, I’d say – anything after that will be a bonus

  4. How do you rate USA’s?

  5. Update: after their pitiful performance against that well-known footballing superpower Paraguay I’d say they’ll be lucky to survive the second round . . .

  6. For me to be able to rate the USA’s chances, I’d have to know the first darn thing about the sport. Which, other than watching my children play, I do not.

Good thing I’m not much of a gambler.
