Pray for the Wildcats

Filed under: Salute! — Lex @ 4:14 pm

I’m just now stumbling back to the keyboard after spending most of the past two days undergoing dramatic, involuntary, instantaneous contraction of most of my body’s large muscle groups. (I’ll spare you the plain-English translation.) I’m still not well, and because pretty much everyone else in the house either still has it or is coming down with it, I’ve got plenty of dishes and laundry to do, but I did want to take a quick moment to note two things about the Eastern Guilford High School fire:

  • I had nothing to do with the N&R’s coverage of same, so I can guiltlessly join in with Hoggard‘s praise of my colleagues’ work on the subject. It would have been phenomenal under any circumstances and is even more so in light of everything else the newsroom has been dealing with of late — illnesses, staff openings, budget anxieties and the like.
  • Hoggard’s friend Ed Hathaway has set up WildcatFamily.com, a “relief and information” site that intends to address every aspect of the effort to sustain the Eastern Guilford Wildcast community as that community, and its larger one, work toward the day when a new building reopens on the site of the one that burned. Please visit and do what you can.

Now, then, where’s the detergent ….
