Leaving it all on the field stage

World, meet Brandi Carlile. Brandi, meet World.

The last female-singer debut I heard with this combination of melody and power was Melissa Ethridge’s. And Ethridge had a multi-album deal; apparently this lady thinks she’s getting only one shot at greatness.

She looks directly into the camera a tad too often, but she gets my vote.

  2. Thanks for putting me on to Ms. Carlile.

You might also like “Bittertown” by Lori McKenna … More country than Brandi Carlile. Equally powerful, melodic voice. Great lyricist.

  3. Couldn’t find “Bittertown” on YouTube, so I listened to “Unglamourous” instead. Very nice.

  4. Just try to ignore the fact that Faith Hill has been recording her songs. Occasionally even the blind hogs that rule Nashville these days find an acorn.
