So close

UNC 72, Davidson 68. I didn’t see the game, but I gather from the reports that 1) it was ugly (the Wildcats actually blew FIVE layups) and 2)  it could have gone either way.

Davidson has Duke, State and UCLA on its nonconference schedule, and I think they showed last night that they can play with anybody. I’m blocking out TV time for March.

  1. “Whew” is all I can say. Curry is way good.

  2. No question Davidson will be playing in March. I was a bit surprised by the commentator saying that Davidson had never beaten a ranked team while McKillops has been coaching – they’ve certainly scared the heck out of a few if that’s true. I’m guessing they’ll win 1 and quite possible 2 of those next non-conf games you’ve got listed (which two is an exercise for the reader).

  6. Indeed it is.

Was Davidson ranked in ’70? I vaguely recall they won the SoCon that year, but I’d thought their ranking ended in ’69 with the loss to UNC in the NCAAs.

  7. We were evidently ranked the entire 69-70 season.
