Odds and ends for 1/9

Roger Ailes: drama queen. Dude, the Islamicist terrorists of the world are not out to get you because the Islamcist terrorists of the world, by and large, have no freakin’ idea who you are.

Charles Murray, shorter: Man, there are a lot of black people in Paris.

Dick Cheney sure looks funny with that second southern orifice, thoughtfully torn for him by Phoenix Woman at Firedoglake.

Because everything else they’ve touched has worked out so well: Blackwater is a contender for the contract to train the Afghan national police force — and wants a cool billion for the job.

Speaking of Afghanistan, we’re out of our depth there from an intelligence standpoint (witness the CIA deaths at Forward Operating Base Chapman), and the general who wrote the report with that conclusion leaked it because apparently his superiors were ignoring him. But the surge will make everything peachy!

  1. You reckon this will or should have any consequences ?

Obama light skined with no negro dialect except when he wants to

And then there is this ugly example of Reid’s

  2. Sure, it was a stupid thing to say, and it should have consequences. (But then I’ve thought Reid should have been removed as majority leader the moment he supported Pelosi’s taking Bush impeachment “off the table.”) I don’t reckon it will have consequences, but only he’s already done so many stupid things that I seriously doubt there are many Americans remaining besides Kay Hagan who still need convincing that Reid is an idiot. He’s a dead incumbent walking in this year’s elections.

As far as the heckler being removed, I don’t see anything “ugly,” but maybe that was because I couldn’t understand what he (or anyone else after Reid’s initial statement) was shouting — the only phrase I could make out was “above Congress.” Huh? As you know I think it’s ridiculous for a public official to hold “invitation-only” town meetings, but that was a practice perfected by George W. Bush.

I also think context counts for something. Trent Lott was praising a segregationist. Reid, albeit with a stunning amount of ineptitude, was praising Obama. These things are not the same.

  3. Oh, yeah how can we forget Boosh. He is blamed for everything, everyday, by the Great Pretender.

  4. As well as by those of us who believe that by pretty much any objective standard he was the Worst President Ever.
