Glenn Beck pwned by social-justice Christian

I know and love many ministers, but just for today, my favorite is Serene Jones, president of Union Theological Seminary in New York. I am drinking so much WIN out of her piece on Glenn Beck, Christianity and social justice that I do not own a beer stein capable of holding it all. At my age, I’m running out of things I haven’t seen yet, but until today I had never seen someone turn the other cheek and still leave a mark — and Glenn, buddy, all the pancake in the world ain’t gonna cover that bruise.

  1. The religious left wants the government to be our savior…. Is that what Glenn was saying? Surely that’s not what Jesus himself wanted.

Sell it all and follow him? Maybe Jesus meant are all too attached to our worldly possessions … Be they t shirts from walmart that my son covets and collects for next to nothing monetarily to the rich SOB John Kerry and his multiple million dollar yachts. We do love our stuff. I think Jesus wanted us to drop that unhealthy attachment to stuff and love people by using our time and money to help poor people, lonely people, sick people, sad people, lost souls. Maybe Glenn Beck actually helps a lot more people than Ms. Jones is aware of. Most rich people do quite a bit of charity….and of course they buy lots of stuff keeping business humming all around them, and they pay a boatload of taxes, too. I thought the outreach to Glenn was smarmy at best: I’ll be praying for you!

  2. Shorter Liz, as usual: IGMFY.

    Your story has grown tiresome.

  3. Shorter Lex, as usual: rich people are evil. Now that’s tiresome!

  4. No, Liz, and as I have told you this before, please do me the courtesy of paying attention this time:

Rich people are not evil. IGMFY people are evil. If you don’t want to be called evil, stop being an IGMFY person. It’s really quite simple.

  5. Hell, for all I know you’re not rich. For all I know, you’re just an overentitled wannabe. Which is even sadder.
