I just thought this was worth mentioning …

… but private employment today is 2% below where it stood 10 years ago.

In the roughly 120 years that anything like reliable U.S. employment data has been kept, we have never before had any 10-year period in which employment fell.

This news comes on the heels of Friday’s May employment report, which was that of the expected 170,000 or so new jobs, only about 54,000 actually materialized. As a result, unemployment went up from 9% to 9.1%.

But, hey, if our national media decide that the most important story is what Anthony Weiner (or John Ensign or John Edwards or David Vitter) is doing with his boy parts, who are we to question that decision?

  3. It’s very interesting. I’ve been on a post-modern and deconstruction kick for a few months. I think I would have made a good English major after all!
